What Saudi law asks of you

Saudi Arabia has the most technically demanding e-invoicing regime of our markets. Issuing an invoice is no longer a document you produce; it is a cryptographic operation your billing system performs, and the system itself has to meet published specifications.

VAT at 15%

The standard rate is 15%, with zero-rated and exempt categories, and registration is mandatory above the statutory turnover threshold.

Generation: structured invoices with a QR code

Resident taxable persons must issue invoices electronically in a structured format. A simplified invoice — the one you hand a walk-in customer — carries a QR code encoding the invoice’s key details so it can be verified.

Integration: your system talks to Fatoora

In the integration phase, your e-invoicing solution connects to ZATCA’s Fatoora platform. Standard invoices are cleared by ZATCA before you send them to the buyer; simplified invoices are reported shortly after issue. Invoices carry a UUID, a cryptographic stamp and a hash chaining each to the one before it.

Waves by revenue

ZATCA brings taxpayers into integration in waves, announced by annual revenue band with a lead time before each wave’s go-live date. Your obligation starts on your wave’s date, not on a general one.

A compliant solution, not just a compliant invoice

The software itself has to meet ZATCA’s technical and security specifications for an e-invoice generation solution. Producing an invoice that looks right is not sufficient.

Current to our reading in 2026 and provided for orientation only — not tax or legal advice. Wave dates and specifications are published and revised by ZATCA; confirm your own wave and your solution’s status with ZATCA or your tax adviser.

What MyShopie gives you today

Read the second half of this section first. In the Kingdom, the gap is the material fact.

  • Priced and invoiced in riyals Currency and timezone are set per store, so a Riyadh or Jeddah store quotes, charges and invoices in SAR on Saudi trading days.
  • An invoice for every paid order A PDF invoice is generated automatically when an order is paid, from an invoice template you control as HTML — your layout, your fields, your wording.
  • A record of who did what Every order carries a timestamped event trail. In-store handovers record the operator, the location and the device, and the POS logs every price override, every void and every cash movement in or out of the drawer.
  • One catalog across online and in-store Multi-location inventory with per-location stock, transfers between locations, and stocktakes with their own audit trail — so the figures you report come from one set of books, not two.
  • Numbers you can hand to an accountant An analytics dashboard over orders, revenue, top products and customers, so the month you are reporting is a query and not a reconstruction.
